Bianchi impresses Ferrari boss Domenicali

Team Principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali, has admitted that he is pleased with how Bianchi has performed so far in 2013.

The 23-year-old debutant looked set for another season on the side-lines after missing out on the Force India drive, but a late call by Marussia to draft him in to replace sponsor-troubled Luiz Razia has so far proved to be the right decision.

Bianchi finished the season opener in 15th with the 11th fastest lap of the race. He bettered that result with 13th in Malaysia, before finishing the Chinese Grand Prix in 15th place respectively.

Talking to Autosport, Domenicali expressed his pleasure at seeing the Frenchman drive so well. He said “I think he is having a great season, the first three races, he has had incredible pace with due respect to the car he has.

“I’m very pleased for him because he has put in a lot of effort to improve and is part of our programme.”

Some have suggested Bianchi as a possible replacement for Felipe Massa at the iconic squad should the Brazilian retire or move teams, but Domenicali remained quiet on the subject. He added “I hope he can keep up this pace because I’m sure he will show his potential not only with his team, but also in the future with other teams.”
