Lotus debut Pirelli’s 18-inch concept tyres at Silverstone
Pirelli and Lotus officially unrelieved the Italian tyre firm’s all-new 18 inch tyre concept on Wednesday morning.
Lotus, who are running Pirelli’s new concept tyres on the second day of testing, officially debuted the 18-inch rims with a photocall on Wednesday, ahead of the start of the eighth-hour long session.
The team’s reserve drive Charles Pic will be the first driver to sample the all-new concept tyres, as he makes his second appearance of the year behind the wheel of the Lotus E22.
While 13-inch tyres remain mandatory in Formula One, Pirelli, the sports’s official tyre, supplier has long pushed for the introduction of 18-inch rims, to see greater technology transfer between tyres in F1 and those on road cars.
