Vettel, Magnussen and Alonso cleared of qualifying infringements
Four-time champion Vettel was summoned to the stewards for an “alleged failure to slow for yellow flags in Turns 3 and 4″ following Kimi Raikkonen’s late crash during the second qualifying session. McLaren rookie Magnussen was also under investigation for the same incident.
The Danish driver improved on his fastest time and made it through to Q3, knocking out his team-mate Jenson Button. Vettel also set a personal best but the German failed to make it through to the top 10 shoot-out.
Meanwhile Alonso’s investigation was for supposedly impeding Esteban Gutierrez, who will start from 22nd on the grid tomorrow, at the first corner in Q1. The Spaniard went on to qualify in fifth place.
In all three cases, the stewards decided to take no further action.
