Speaking in a video posted by Ferrari as part of their F14 T online launch, he shared his views on the up-coming season and his two drivers. Like technical director James Allison, he is expecting reliability to be crucial due to the new and complicated power-units.
“Now it is time to win,” said the Italian. “I have a lot of confidence in the new technical director James Allison and in the work that our people have made in the engine.
“It’s a very complicated engine and very complicated system and I think at the beginning of the season reliability will be crucial. Whenever we have the new rules it is difficult from the beginning to find out who is competitive, but our goal is to be on top and do our best. Domenicali has done some innovation within the team and I am very confident.”
Fernando Alonso is currently preparing for his fifth season with the team and is looking forward to discovering the “new Formula 1″ in 2014. He will be joined by Kimi Raikkonen. Commenting on Ferrari’s driver line-up, Montezemolo said: “I’m confident because we have a strong team and I think we have all the ingredients to be very successful.
“I’m pleased to have Kimi back, Kimi was the last driver to win the championship with us. Fernando has made fantastic seasons by achieving second place in the last four years.”
