Force India has confirmed that Sergio Perez will partner Nico Hulkenberg at the Silverstone-based outfit in 2014.
Perez found himself without a drive in November, when the Mexican confirmed that he had been released by McLaren after just a single season with the team, with the Woking based-squad instead signing Formula Renault 3.5 Champion Kevin Magnussen for 2014.
Following weeks of speculation, Perez was officially unveiled as a Force India driver for 2014 by Team Principal and Managing Director Vijay Mallya on Thursday, at an event in London.
The Mexican, who has been signed on a multi-year deal, will be joined at the team by Nico Hulkenberg, with the German’s return to Force India – after a year at Sauber – having been confirmed last week.
“It’s great to announce my new team as Sahara Force India,” said Perez.
“Coming here was always my first choice and I’m really happy everything has now been confirmed. I want to say thank you to Vijay and the whole team for giving me the opportunity.
“This is a young team with a lot of determination and they’ve produced competitive cars for the last few years.
“It’s all change for next season with the new regulations, but I already have a good feeling about 2014. My plan now is to visit the factory and get to know everyone in the team.”
Perez’s confirmation means that both Force India seats for 2014 are now filled, which leaves former drivers Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil without confirmed drives for next year.
