It will be the Frenchman’s second term as FIA president after succeeding Max Mosley at the end of 2009. It was confirmed on the final day of the FIA’s Annual General Assembly and ensures he will remain as president for another four years.

There were no abstentions and it was a unanimous vote to re-elect Todt. He stood unopposed after his main challenger David Ward withdrew from the election last month, as he failed to secure the necessary support to launch his campaign.

“Thank you for so strongly endorsing our Team,” he said during his acceptance speech. “We are both humbled and proud to have your trust to guide our great organisation for another four years. Nico [Craw], Brian [Gibbons], Graham [Stocker] and I thank you.”
