Despite completing media duties at the circuit on Thursday, di Resta is unwell and the team decided to give him the morning off on Friday to recover.
Calado was announced as Force India’s reserve driver in early September and has so far made two practice on outings for the team. The first came in Italy before taking over di Resta’s car in Korea.
The Brit confirmed the news on Twitter, saying: “Due to Paul being unwell I will be driving tomorrow mornings FP1 session.”
Paul di Resta will be back in the car on Friday afternoon for the second session. Not only is it a crucial home race for the team but it is also an important one for his career.
His manager recently shared his fears over the 27-year-old’s future at Force India. He has failed to score a single point since the British Grand Prix in June.
