Red Bull and Pirelli to test at Barcelona
It has been reported that Red Bull will hold a tyre test alongside Pirelli later this month.
It is believed that Daniel Ricciardo, who was announced as Mark Webber’s replacement for 2014 last week, will join Red Bull’s reserve driver Sebastian Buemi for a 1000km test at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, where according to SkyF1 they will concentrate on ‘2014 technology’ for Pirelli.
In accordance with Article 22 of the Sporting Regulations, Red Bull will use their two-year-old 2011 car, the RB7 and will limit their running to 1000km.
This will remove any doubts over the legality of the test, unlike Mercedes’ ‘secret’ 3-day run at Barcelona earlier this year, which resulted in a reprimand from the FIA for the Brackley-based-squad after they made use of their 2013 specification W04.
