Austrian GP set to return?
Austrian publication Kurier has reported today that a deal has been agreed between Dietrich Mateschitz and Bernie Ecclestone that will see Formula One return to the A1 Ring – now renamed the Red Bull Ring under the ownership of the energy drink giant.
“Dietrich Mateschitz and Bernie Ecclestone have reached agreement to the effect that Formula 1 is already coming back to Styria next year,” the article reports.
The deal would see F1 return to Austria after leaving the A1 Ring in 2003, as well as increasing the pressure on the swelling calendar that could stand at 22 races for next season.
The track at Spielberg has undergone severe development since it came under new management, hosting many high-profile events such as DTM and Formula Two.
