The Brit decided to move from his Technical Director role at McLaren after more than a decade at the team, moving to Brackley based Mercedes team as their executive director (technical).

He started work at the German squad on June 3rd after they struck a deal with the Woking based squad to end his contract early. Lowe was last in the paddock in Brazil 2012 having been consigned non-F1 duties with McLaren for the first part of the season.

Team Principal Ross Brawn said earlier this month that he thinks Lowe’s early arrival will give the team a long-term boost: “It is a bonus because this is a particularly challenging time with the 2014 car,”

“We want to get started, believe it or not, on the 2015 car and it is a period when all our resources have been stretched to the limit.”

Paddock gossip expects Lowe to replace Brawn as Team Principal when the latter decides to retire.
